Busterfield Rules!
A game for 2 or more players
The only thing Busterfield likes more than making up rules is having people follow them! Pretend to be Busterfield and make up some crazy rules for people to follow.
Play at being Busterfield. Make up crazy rules like "hop on one foot and tap your head" or "bark like a dog."
Write them on signs and place them in a circle at different places in the room. "Hop here," "Sing a song here," etc.
Start at different signs. Each person moves to the next sign in the circle at the same time and has to do what the sign says at the same time. This should be lots of noisy fun.
Monkey See Monkey Do
A game for 2 or more players
Those monkeys will copy anything! Did you see the ones in our story?
The game works just like regular Simon Says but with a twist. Come up with four words. You can even use names. For our example, we'll use Lionel, Leona, Cleo and Theo.
Then, give each direction a name, like Lionel means hop to the right, Theo means hop to the left, Cleo means stand still and Leona means pounce! Make sure everyone playing hears the directions. You can say them a couple of times.
To start, everyone lines up in front of the leader. The leader calls out one of the words and everyone has to do what that word requires. So, if the leader says, "Lionel!" everyone should hop to the right. If the leader then says "Theo!" everyone should hop to the left. If someone does the wrong thing, they're out. The last person left playing is the winner.
Monkey See Monkey Do Monkey Make up Directions
A game for 2 or more players
Even the smartest of monkeys needs good directions.
Pick a simple activity, like making a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. One person should then give the directions to the other person who has to follow them. So, the person making the PB&J can only do exactly what the directions say.
The trick is to cover every step in the right order, exactly, word for word. You can't just say, "make a sandwich."
You can't even say, "Get the jelly." It would be something like, "Stand up. Walk to the cupboard. Open the cupboard. Pick up the jelly. Set it down. Take off the lid. Walk to where the cutlery is. Get a butter knife..."
The other person should follow the instructions they are given and stop whenever the instructions are not good enough.
Stop Go Tickle Stop
A game for 2 or more players
Ticklers and ticklees needed for stop and go tickling.
To play, take turns tickling each other. Start tickling when someone says "Go!" The person being tickled gets to yell "Stop!" whenever they want and the person ticking them MUST stop.
The person being tickled then yells "Go!" and the tickler starts tickling them again.
That's it, just lots of fun tickling, along with practice saying and listening to the word STOP.
